Banned in the early Twentieth Century, Absinthe has taken on a mythic reputation in our modern world. The Absinthe Fairy is said to bring on not only reckless abandon, but hallucinations and visions in revelers who partake of this mysterious elixir. Traditionally made from anise oil, Absinthe has a higher alcohol content than Whiskey -- up to 75 percent (144 proof. ) Absinthe was especially popular among the Bohemian set at the turn of the Twentieth Century.
This Absinthe piece is made in the Fallen Angel Brass studios and sealed with a non toxic matte lacquer for durability. It is completely made in the USA and contains no lead, nickel or cadmium.
Painting is Viktor Oliva's "The Absinthe Drinker" (1901)

Fallen Angel Brass is available exclusively through this Etsy shop.
Our items are not purchased from a wholesaler, but are created specifically for our shop in collaboration with American metal manufacturers and our New England master finisher. The small, family run businesses of this region take great pride in their craftsmanship and materials, under strict supervision of U.S. metal and labor regulations. No lead, cadmium or nickel is used and all labor is fairly paid and safely conducted in highly regulated working conditions in compliance with the US Fair Labor Standards Act. Your supplies from our shop are not "off the rack," but are exclusive and unique. We are proud to offer this product to the Etsy community.
Our pewter and brass are finished by one very small New England family business, not a factory. Each piece of Fallen Angel Brass is hand rubbed twice and finished with a non toxic lacquer for durability. Variations in the dark finish are by design and part of the unique Fallen Angel Brass patina. We strive for uniformity and consistency, but also value the variation that comes from the one-man process that creates our finish. With wear, our finish will age, but in a pleasing antiqued way. Our brass is meant to be worn and aged further with use.

All supply product photos are taken by Karen.
Background papers and ephemera in photos are authentic antiques.

Absinthe finish/colour is really different. The absinthe finish has a vibrance due to the iridescence produced by the turquoise in the piece, but that colour is not prominent on the front/top side of piece. The colour will work well with black and Ivory. I am currently turning the house upside down looking for a scrap of silk that is very light ivory with random black print that I am pretty sure I still have, so that I can use it with the absinthe and black bead caps that I bought. If I can’t find it, I’ll need to break out the silk and the silk paints. Found it...yay! And another crisper ivory silk...so now I have a choice...and maybe a difficult decision...
