Heard about the wonders of Renaissance Wax, but would like to try it out before investing in a larger quantity? We have created sample portions of this wonderful wax specifically for you! One half fluid ounce in our little glass jar will give you quite a few applications so that you can test this wax on your own work. With our cotton application pad, you'll have everything you need to try out this much heralded preservation wax.

Most high end brass filigrees, including ours, now come with a very light lacquer coating - so light and thin that you probably would not even recognize the covering as lacquer. It is matte. If you buff your brass to bring out more of the antiqued highlights, our very thin layer of protective non-toxic lacquer will be removed. To prevent discoloration over time, protect your buffed components with Renaissance Wax.

Preferred by museums, restoration professionals and master technicians the world over, Renaissance Wax may be used on almost any smooth surface to protect the original luster. Leaving no residue and drying quickly, this unique wax was formulated by the British Museum.
This high quality preservation wax is used in the US by The Smithsonian Institute, Colonial Williamsburg Conservatory, Abraham Lincoln Residence, Vicksburg Military Park and Museum, Henry Food Museum, Academy of Arts, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NRA Museum, Rockefeller Restorations, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Hilton Hotels, BYU Museum of Art, National Ornamental Metals Museum and countless other museums.

In the United Kingdom it is used in the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Buckingham Palace, Military Museums at Aldershot, H.M. the Queens Royal Armourer, The National Museum of Antiquities - Scotland, Royal Armories (London & Leeds), The Imperial War Museum, Windsor Castle, and The Tower of London.

Treat the separate buffed pieces before you incorporate them into your jewelry design and they will keep their beautiful, aged appearance.
Sparingly apply Renaissance Wax and rub your ornament with a cloth diaper or dry dust cloth. Rub gently. Renaissance Wax dries quickly.

Where do you get your unique black findings?

Our items are not purchased from a wholesaler, but are created specifically for our shop in collaboration with American metal manufacturers and our New England master finisher. The small, family run businesses of this region take great pride in their craftsmanship and materials, under strict supervision of U.S. metal and labor regulations. No lead, cadmium or nickel is used and all labor is fairly paid and safely conducted in highly regulated working conditions. Your supplies from our shop are not "off the rack," but are exclusive and unique. We are proud to offer this product to the Etsy community.

Why does your finish have variations?

Our pewter and brass are finished by one very small New England family business, not a factory. Each piece of Fallen Angel Brass is hand rubbed twice and finished with a non toxic lacquer for durability. Variations in the dark finish are by design and part of the unique Fallen Angel Brass patina. We strive for uniformity and consistency, but also value the variation that comes from the one-man process that creates our finish. With wear, our finish will age, but in a pleasing antiqued way. Our brass is meant to be worn and aged further with use.

Who takes the photos in your shop?

Our product photos are taken by us in natural daylight with a point and shoot digital camera. The color you see is the real color of the paper background and the Fallen Angel Brass components. Some photos appear "sepia toned," but they are actually the true color of the product and the background paper. Changes in color vary according to the natural light and the variations in the dark finish which are by design and part of the unique Fallen Angel Brass patina.

All supply product photos are taken by us.

Background papers and ephemera in photos are authentic antiques.

How do I submit a photo to your shop?

If you would like to submit photos of your own jewelry using Fallen Angel Brass or Bad Girl Castings components, please include your photos in a convo to us. We are always especially interested in unique designs, good photos and finished pieces that feature components for which we do not have any examples. If your example fits our promotional needs, we will display it in our shop with your shop link clearly visible. We are happy to extend a $10 gift certificate per photo to all artists whose work appears in our shop.

Do you actually read customer reviews?

Your reviews are very meaningful to us because we also shop on Etsy and we order jewelry supplies here, just as you do. Every review is carefully read and appreciated, for our aim is to provide friendly, accurate and speedy service. If for any reason you feel that we have fallen short of our aspirations, consider writing a convo to us with your concerns. We welcome the opportunity to turn any situation into a happy one for all.
